Chinese tuition · Ages 7–12 · Singapore
Small groups. Real curiosity. The language — and the culture behind it.
Why Wén
Good Teaching
Every Wén teacher is a practitioner first. Classes are planned around what six children actually need that week — not what a syllabus says they should need.
Genuine Curiosity
We build each lesson around a Chinese character with a life of its own — its origin, its sound, the stories it lives inside. A child who finds Chinese interesting at nine will still find it interesting at twenty-nine.
Real Confidence
Confidence in Chinese isn't about getting every tone right. It's about wanting to try. Wén classes are low-stakes by design. No red pens. No rankings.

The Wén Way
Chinese is not a subject you survive. It is a language with 3,500 years of stories inside it. At Wén, we start there — with the character, its shape, its history, the poem it comes from. The grammar follows. The exam score follows after that.
Mei Lin built Wén because she couldn't find it. After eight years teaching Chinese at a top Singapore school, she understood exactly why children stop caring: because the system treats the language as a problem to be solved rather than a world to be entered.
Every Wén class has six students. Every lesson is different. Every child leaves knowing one thing they didn't know before — not a trick for the paper, but something real.
About
Founder · Former MOE Chinese teacher · Raffles Girls' School
Mei Lin taught Chinese for eight years. She was good at it. Her students passed. Some of them even liked it.
But she watched her own daughter lose interest in the language by Primary 3 — not because Chinese was hard, but because school made it feel like a punishment. She left MOE in 2019. Wén opened six months later.
She speaks Mandarin, Hokkien, and Teochew, and she will tell you the dialect matters. Every child she teaches learns at least one story they will remember when they are forty.
