The Client
A neighbourhood beauty salon invisible on Google
Our client is an established beauty salon in a residential Singapore neighbourhood, offering hair, nail and skincare services. Despite loyal walk-in regulars and strong reviews, they were almost invisible in local search — new customers simply couldn’t find them on Google. The salon had earned a strong local reputation over several years through repeat clients and word-of-mouth, but none of that goodwill showed up online. When nearby residents searched for treatments — a hair salon near me, gel nails, or a facial in the area — it was competitors with complete Google Business Profiles and dedicated service pages that appeared first. With no budget for paid ads and newer salons opening nearby, the owner needed dependable organic visibility in local search to keep a steady flow of new customers walking through the door.
●
Established neighbourhood beauty salon — hair, nails & skincare.
●
Loyal walk-in regulars, but few new customers from online search.
●
No Google Business Profile optimisation and thin local presence.
●
Relying on word-of-mouth, with no budget for paid ads.
The Challenge
Strong locally, but unfindable on Google
Three local-search gaps were keeping new customers from finding the salon.
Problem 01
An unoptimised Google Business Profile
Incomplete categories, few photos and no posting cadence meant the salon rarely appeared in the local map pack.
Problem 02
No local landing pages
The website had a single generic page with no service- or location-specific content for nearby searchers to land on.
Problem 03
Almost no reviews or citations
A handful of reviews and inconsistent business listings across directories left little local trust signal for Google to rank.
Our Strategy
A local-first SEO playbook
We rebuilt the salon’s local presence — profile, on-page content and reputation — to win the searches happening right in their neighbourhood. Rather than chase broad, highly competitive head terms, we targeted the high-intent local searches the salon could realistically win — service-plus-location queries from people ready to book a treatment nearby. The work ran on three fronts at once: a fully optimised Google Business Profile to earn visibility in the map pack, dedicated landing pages built around each core service and the surrounding neighbourhoods, and a consistent stream of genuine customer reviews and accurate directory citations to build the local trust signals Google rewards. We sequenced the work so early map-pack gains compounded as the new service pages matured and began ranking for their own keywords. The combined effect compounded quickly. As the optimised Google Business Profile and the new service pages gained traction, the salon moved into the top three of the local map pack for its core treatments, organic traffic climbed 187%, and the profile began generating more than 32 new bookings every month — all from organic search, with no ad spend. Just as important, the growth proved durable. Because it was built on owned assets, genuine customer reviews and content the salon controls rather than rented ad placements, the visibility kept working long after the project wrapped — turning local search into a steady, predictable channel for new customers that the business can rely on even through quieter seasons.
